Workshop Terms & Conditions

By booking a workshop with The Tailor’s Stitch, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before completing your booking.
1. Workshop Bookings
Workshops are designed to provide participants with a friendly, supportive introduction to sewing and sewing-machine use.
A booking is confirmed once full payment has been received.
Workshop places are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The person making the booking is responsible for ensuring that the participant is aware of these Terms & Conditions.
2. Workshop Price & Payment
The advertised workshop price is $125 per participant, unless otherwise stated.
Payment must be made at the time of booking to secure your place.
Any additional costs, such as optional materials or products not included in the workshop price, will be clearly communicated before purchase.
3. What Is Included
The workshop price includes the items and materials specifically stated in the workshop description.
For beginner workshops, this may include access to a sewing machine, basic sewing equipment, instruction and materials required to complete the advertised project.
Workshop inclusions may vary between workshops and will be outlined in the relevant workshop listing.
Participants are welcome to ask questions about what is included before booking.
4. Cancellations by Participants
We understand that plans can change.
If you need to cancel your booking, please contact The Tailor’s Stitch as soon as possible.
More than 7 days before the workshop:
You may request either a full refund or transfer your booking to another available workshop of equal value.
Within 7 days of the workshop:
Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided for cancellations within 7 days of the workshop. However, you are welcome to arrange for another person to take your place. Please let The Tailor’s Stitch know the name of the person attending in your place before the workshop.
5. Cancellation or Rescheduling by The Tailor’s Stitch
While every effort will be made to run workshops as advertised, The Tailor’s Stitch reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop where necessary.
If The Tailor’s Stitch cancels a workshop, participants will be offered the choice of:
transferring their booking to another suitable workshop; or
receiving a full refund of the workshop fee.
The Tailor’s Stitch will not be responsible for any additional costs incurred by participants as a result of a cancelled or rescheduled workshop, such as travel or accommodation costs.
6. Late Arrival
Participants are asked to arrive on time so that the workshop can begin as scheduled.
If you arrive late, the workshop will generally continue without extending the finishing time. Late arrival may mean that you miss some instruction or have less time to complete your project.
If a participant arrives significantly late and cannot safely or reasonably participate in the workshop, The Tailor’s Stitch may ask them not to participate. In these circumstances, the standard cancellation policy will apply.
7. Sewing Machines, Equipment & Materials
Participants will be provided with access to sewing machines and other equipment as outlined in the workshop description.
All equipment must be used in accordance with the instructions provided by The Tailor’s Stitch.
Participants must take reasonable care of all sewing machines, tools and equipment provided.
If equipment is damaged as a result of intentional misuse or negligent behaviour, The Tailor’s Stitch reserves the right to seek reasonable compensation for the cost of repair or replacement.
Normal wear and tear and accidental damage that occurs despite reasonable care will not be the participant’s responsibility.
8. Safety
Sewing involves the use of machinery, needles, pins, scissors, irons and other equipment that may cause injury if used incorrectly.
Participants must follow all safety instructions provided during the workshop.
Participants must use equipment responsibly and must not engage in behaviour that could place themselves or others at risk.
The Tailor’s Stitch reserves the right to ask a participant to stop using equipment or leave the workshop if their behaviour presents a safety risk to themselves or others.
9. Children & Young Participants
The minimum age for each workshop will be stated in the individual workshop listing.
Where a workshop is not specifically advertised as a children’s workshop, participants under the stated minimum age may not attend unless prior approval has been provided by The Tailor’s Stitch.
A parent or guardian may be required to remain responsible for a child or young person attending a workshop, depending on the workshop format and age of the participant.
10. Personal Belongings
Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings while attending a workshop.
The Tailor’s Stitch is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
11. Accessibility & Individual Requirements
The Tailor’s Stitch aims to make sewing workshops welcoming and accessible.
If you have an accessibility requirement, injury, condition, or other circumstance that may affect your ability to safely participate, please contact The Tailor’s Stitch before booking so that we can discuss whether reasonable adjustments can be made.
Participants must follow reasonable safety instructions throughout the workshop.
12. Workshop Projects & Instructions
Workshop projects, patterns, instructions and other teaching materials provided by The Tailor’s Stitch are intended for the participant’s personal use.
Unless otherwise agreed, workshop materials, patterns and instructions must not be reproduced, distributed, resold or used to run another workshop or commercial sewing class.
Participants are welcome to use the sewing skills learned during the workshop to create items for their own personal use and enjoyment.
13. Photography & Video
The Tailor’s Stitch may take photographs or video during workshops for use in marketing, social media and promotional material.
Participants will not be required to consent to photography or video in order to attend a workshop.
Where photographs or video may identify a participant, consent will be requested separately.
Participants who do not wish to be photographed or filmed can let The Tailor’s Stitch know before or during the workshop.
14. Participant Behaviour
The Tailor’s Stitch is committed to providing a friendly, respectful and welcoming environment.
Participants are expected to treat instructors, other participants, venue staff and equipment with respect.
The Tailor’s Stitch reserves the right to refuse participation or ask a participant to leave where their behaviour is inappropriate, abusive, threatening, disruptive or creates a safety concern.
No refund will generally be provided where a participant is removed from a workshop because of inappropriate or unsafe behaviour, subject to any rights they may have under Australian Consumer Law.
15. Results & Skill Level
Workshops are designed for beginners and are intended to provide participants with practical sewing knowledge and experience.
Everyone learns at a different pace, and The Tailor’s Stitch cannot guarantee that every participant will complete their project within the scheduled workshop time.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions and work at a comfortable pace.
16. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, participants are responsible for taking reasonable care of their own safety and belongings while attending a workshop.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights, guarantees, warranties or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or modified under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
17. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where Australian Consumer Law provides you with rights that cannot legally be excluded, those rights continue to apply.
18. Changes to Workshops or These Terms
The Tailor’s Stitch may make reasonable changes to workshop content, materials, equipment, venue or instructors where necessary.
Any significant changes affecting a participant’s booking will be communicated where reasonably possible.
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time. The Terms & Conditions applying to a booking will generally be those accepted by the participant at the time of booking, unless a change is required by law.
